About the Event
Our very own Sommelier, Logan Hatchett will choose 5 wines from women vintners and pair them with the perfect cheese and charcuterie. District Wine Bar will donate 50% of ticket sales back to the organization. The Pop-up gallery will be on display throughout the day.
About the project:
Just as ABCCM took 240 male Veterans off the street in 2008 by acquiring a motel and 10 acres, ABCCM’s Board of Directors committed to doing the same for homeless women and children. ABCCM’s Board, staff, advisory committees, residents, and community leaders united to create the vision of a village that would holistically provide resident-centered, whole person support to those who find themselves in vulnerable situations, including homeless single women, female Veterans, victims of domestic violence, and moms with children.
With this vision in place, ABCCM purchased 24 acres on a bus line. Transformation Village is a multi-phase project that will ultimately provide on-site support for every need – including healthcare, nutrition, life-skills, employment training, and more – for approximately 350 residents. In the first phase, ABCCM will double its capacity for women and children upon completion of the Community Center, which will include 90 beds for transitional housing, a kitchen and dining facility to serve 300 residents, a life skills and job training center offering 17 career-track programs in partnership with local community college AB Tech, and a children's education center and playground. Once completed, Phase I will allow us to provide up to 240 women and children each year with vital programming designed to permanently transition our residents out of homelessness and poverty. Future phases will add permanent supportive housing for an additional 250 individuals.
