About the Event
Karen Marie Hassloch born in Hackensack, New Jersey. Originally inspired by her fathers
paintings of New York City scapes and the ocean scenes on Long Island. Romantic notions,
curiosity, and awe emerged, along with a desire to create, she integrated the arts into her life at
a young age.
By the time she was in her early teens she was motivated to paint. Throughout the 80s and 90s
she continued to satiate her curiosity of artistic endeavors in academic settings.
Studying and experimenting with different media through high school and continuing into
college with painting classes, she followed her desire to express herself with line and color on
whatever surface might be found.
Karen also credits a few brilliant educators, creatives, and artists who have influenced her on
her path. Her good friend Ron Sheppard a brilliant painter and zen master was a particularly
strong influence. She was fortunate to spend countless hours reflecting upon, and sharing
their knowledge; in history, style, technique, and philosophy.
Her style is ever changing and evolving. Inspired by the beauty of the organic world; the many
transformations, phases and mysteries. Karen tells a story through her paintings, her
expression and interpretation of the world around us and the interior reflective subtleties just
below the surface.
With the use of line and color she expresses what nature and her life’s journey has imprinted
upon her forever. Though the doorway of the subconscious mind she communicates the
language of the soul.
